I had debated for a couple of days whether to venture down to Brighton for my first ever Glug event and, thanks to a friend, I was easily convinced. Talks, pop-up shops and some friendly drinks? What more could I ask for! Continue reading “Glug Brighton”

Building a Brighter (Lego) Future
A while ago I gave my favourite childhood toy a bit of an analysis after losing faith in its severely gendered stereotype toys and, thankfully, found that it was slowly marching back in the right direction to becoming a unisex toy (read the previous blog post here). It will never hold the genderless uniqueness it had when I used to play with it as a kid, but by introducing new sets, minifigs and revising materials used in production Lego may actually become an inspiration to both children and the corporate world. Continue reading “Building a Brighter (Lego) Future”
Little Lemon Studio Rebrand

Times have been hectic and the end of my grad scheme is currently rushing towards me. After 9 months experience in the industry, I had a look back at my blog and thought: time for a rebrand. Continue reading “Little Lemon Studio Rebrand”
So many things so little time…
The Christmas rush is swamping the streets of cities and, out here in the countryside, the so-called ‘busy’ lanes are bustling with an excitement that can only mean one thing. It’s time to get festive! Continue reading “So many things so little time…”
A step into the countryside
I need to apologise for how long it’s taken me to get back to my blog, but I can tell you that I’ve had a bit of a roller coaster of a time since I finished Uni. I thought I’d share with you what I’m up to now and then I’ve got a line of little things to share with you all! Continue reading “A step into the countryside”
Brick by Brick
Lego. The toy that took over my childhood. The little bricks that could make complex constructions, the mini figures that could create endless stories and scenarios. Lego is an intelligent toy that allows the simplicity of one brick to open up a world of endless opportunities, but when did Lego become so ‘blue aisle’ focused? Continue reading “Brick by Brick”
New Designers 2014
The first week of July saw part 2 of New Designers take place at the Business Design Centre in Angel, London. For 4 days, the top UK design graduates put out their best work to leave industry and the general public in awe. Furniture, illustration, graphics, set design, product design… They had it all! Continue reading “New Designers 2014”
New Designers: Build Up
Today was the last setting up day before the top UK design graduates eagerly welcome potential employers in London’s Business Design Centre. Companies such as P&G, Mars and John Lewis will be awarding prizes tomorrow for a range of products seen at New Designers. The Business Design Centre, Islington, was bustling today with graduates painting, building and positioning their work with the hopes of being recognised, making contacts or, fingers crossed, getting a job! Now that would be living the dream hey? Continue reading “New Designers: Build Up”
Back to Blogging
I must apologise profoundly for not being able to balance this when crunch time kicked in for my final year project. Fortunately, however, my equivalent of a dissertation (portfolio, technical report and research book) have all been handed in! Technically speaking, I’m no longer a student! Weird… Continue reading “Back to Blogging”
Ideas Bloom with Jimmy Dorrell
My one and only lecture this term that is running in juxtaposition with my final year project is Principles of Eco Design. The module consists of a combination of external lecturers, a live project and short projects to give us a well rounded understanding of sustainable design, but I’m not here to tell you what my course is all about, on the contrary, I’m here to tell you about things that really caught my eye. Things that I find particularly interesting and that, hopefully, you will too. This module’s first external lecturer was Jimmy Dorrell from Bloom and here is a little of what I learnt!
